Rebecca + Dave | Barlow Woodseats Hall
Rebecca and Dave’s Beautiful Wedding at Barlow Woodseats Hall
Some weddings feel like homecomings, and Rebecca and Dave’s special day was just that for me. I had previously photographed Dave’s sister and brother-in-law’s wedding, so it was lovely to be back among familiar faces and share in another family celebration. Also, it was great to see Mr. Candle himself, James, who also supplies me with his unique Yorkshire Candle Company candles, which are part of my welcome gift to new couples.
Barlow Woodseats Hall is a venue I adore, with its picturesque grounds, intimate charm, Peacocks, and relaxed vibe. The day started with a bit of uncertainty, as the weather looked changeable, but that didn’t stop the peacocks from making a brief appearance to greet me as I arrived.
Morning Preparations
The day began with Dave arriving in style alongside his dad in his dad’s classic car. Meanwhile, Rebecca and her bridal party were in the barn getting ready, accompanied by their beloved dogs. While the girls sipped Champagne and enjoyed hair and makeup, the guys took a more laid-back approach, relaxing in the courtyard with beers. Dave even had a custom tankard, proudly displaying the Yorkshire Rose – a perfect nod to his roots.
The morning was full of heartfelt moments. Both Rebecca and Dave exchanged thoughtful gifts delivered by the Maid of Honour. Rebecca’s gift visibly touched Dave, and Rebecca herself couldn’t hold back a few tears. These intimate exchanges set the tone for the day – a beautiful blend of love, joy, and meaningful moments. Rebecca’s dad and bridal party were treated to an emotional first look as she came down the stairs in her stunning dress. It was a moment of pure magic, and you could feel the excitement building for the ceremony.
A Weather-Defying Ceremony
The ceremony was planned for the lawn in front of the house, a stunning backdrop, especially with the gorgeous floral display created at the top of the altar. As the guests gathered, umbrellas began popping open as the clouds rolled in. Ultimately, the registrars decided to move things indoors.
In true wedding-day spirit, everyone gathered chairs and umbrellas to set up an impromptu ceremony space inside. Even the dogs had their moment, proudly walking down the aisle to lead the way. The indoor ceremony was incredibly intimate and heartfelt, with beautiful readings and emotional vows. Just as Rebecca and Dave exited the ceremony as husband and wife, the clouds cleared, revealing blue skies and sunshine—a perfect start to the afternoon ahead.
Celebrations in the Sunshine
With the sun now shining, everyone returned to the lawn for an extended confetti moment, showering Rebecca and Dave in celebration. Drinks flowed as guests mingled on the lawn and courtyard, enjoying canapés and lawn games. We captured some relaxed group photos and a fun couple’s shoot in the quintessentially English garden. Rebecca and Dave were a dream to photograph, their laughter and love shining through in every shot. I kept it relaxed like I always do and let Rebecca and Dave enjoy each other’s company to ensure we got some truly authentic moments.
Dinner, Speeches, and Signature Cocktails
The barn welcomed everyone for a lively entrance as Rebecca and Dave were greeted with cheers. The speeches before the meal brought plenty of laughter, heartfelt moments, and a few tears. It was clear how much love and admiration surrounded this couple.
The post-dinner drinks were a highlight, with the Horsebox Stables Bar serving Rebecca and Dave’s favourite cocktails. One standout was the “Nel-Spresso,” a clever twist on the classic espresso martini featuring an image of Nel the dog on the foam. This fun and personal touch had everyone talking and was by far the most popular choice.
Sunset, Dancing, and Unforgettable Memories
As the sun began to set, I stole Rebecca and Dave away for a golden-hour shoot. The light was perfect, and these moments felt like a peaceful pause in the day’s celebrations – a chance for the newlyweds to soak it all in before heading back for the evening shenanigans. The evening continued with cutting their cake and an energetic first dance that set the tone for the party ahead. Rebecca and Dave didn’t hold back on the dancefloor, and their guests followed suit, creating a lively, joyful end to an unforgettable day. Anyway, enough from me.
